South Korean and US Finance Ministers Discuss Tariffs and Investment

The finance ministers of South Korea and the United States (US) held a video call to discuss trade and investment relations between the two countries. During the meeting, issues such as tariffs, investments and exchange rate policies were discussed.

In a statement released by the South Korean Ministry of Finance, it was stated that steps to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and reduce trade barriers were discussed. It was also stated that efforts to ensure financial stability amid global economic uncertainties were also discussed. Choi Sang-mok, South Korea’s interim President and Minister of Finance, emphasized that trade and investment relations between the two countries are of great importance for both sides. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that cooperation with South Korea is critical for global economic growth and stability. Exchange rate policies and steps to stabilize international financial markets were also discussed during the meeting. The two sides agreed to take a common stance against global economic challenges.
