South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun is expected to travel to the United States next week for talks with the US on reciprocal tariffs. A government official told Yonhap News Agency on Monday that Seoul is seeking an exemption from the global tariffs imposed by the United States, particularly the 25 percent tariff on South Korea. Last week, the Trump administration suspended these tariffs for 90 days for countries other than China. “Depending on how the program takes shape, the date of the visit may change slightly,” the official said, “but the US visit could take place next week at the earliest.” Interim President Han Duck-soo also said on Monday that the government plans to set up a negotiating team led by Ahn to hold talks with US officials as soon as possible.
