Germany has delivered the first RCH 155 artillery system to Ukraine, a highly mobile and automated weapon developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) on the BOXER wheeled armoured vehicle chassis. Operable by just two crew members, the system combines automation with advanced targeting, ensuring rapid and precise strikes while minimizing risks to soldiers.

Equipped with a 155mm L/52 howitzer, the RCH 155 can hit targets up to 54 kilometres away, depending on the ammunition. This long-range capability enhances Ukraine’s artillery strength, enabling simultaneous multiple-round firing to overwhelm enemy positions and complicate Russian defences.

Germany plans to deliver 54 units as part of a military aid package that also includes IRIS-T air defence systems, Patriot missiles, and additional artillery, bringing its total military assistance to Ukraine to over 28 billion euros. Another 4 billion euros is allocated for 2025, solidifying Germany as the second-largest military aid provider to Ukraine after the U.S.

This delivery reflects Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and bolstering its ability to counter Russian aggression.
