Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met with Armenian Ambassador Ashot Smbatyan on Monday to discuss the “historically strong friendship and fruitful cooperation” between their nations.

The discussion emphasized strengthening parliamentary relations and addressed political developments in both countries. Armenia’s growing interest in deepening ties with the West, including its recent signing of the Charter of Strategic Partnership with the United States, was highlighted. Both sides noted that the future of Georgia-US and Armenia-US relations would heavily depend on newly elected US President Donald Trump.

They also reviewed the situation in the South Caucasus, stressing the importance of regional peace and stability. Additionally, they agreed to “properly commemorate” the 100th birth anniversary of Charles Aznavour, a renowned French-Armenian singer with paternal ties to Georgia.
