The French Foreign Ministry announced that a number of countries are ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. This announcement has once again highlighted the need to step up international efforts to ensure Ukraine’s security at a time when the Russian-Ukrainian war continues.
The statement was made by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu at a press conference following a Paris meeting of defense ministers from Britain, Germany, Italy, Italy, Poland and France, APA reported, citing RIA Novosti. “The protection of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is vital for the security of Europe. Many countries have expressed their readiness to provide security guarantees to Ukraine.” These guarantees can be provided within the framework of international law and through multilateral agreements, the spokesperson said. Ukraine is demanding more support from the international community following Russia’s invasion in 2022. NATO and EU countries in particular continue to provide military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. However, permanent and legally binding security guarantees are seen as an important step to ensure Ukraine’s long-term security.
