Zelimkhan Derbiyev, Russia’s representative in the talks with Ukraine, said that the talks between Russian and US representatives in Istanbul took place in a “positive atmosphere”.
“The recent bilateral expert consultations on normalizing the work of the diplomatic missions of Russia and the United States took place in a positive atmosphere and allowed us to move forward towards solving this task set by the heads of the two countries,” Darchiev said. Derbiyev noted that the sides exchanged views on various issues and the dialogue had a constructive character. He did not elaborate on the content of the talks, but emphasized that such contacts are important for reducing international tensions. These talks took place in the context of the ongoing confrontation between Russia and the United States and regional security issues. The constant dialogue between the parties is welcomed by the international community.
