Denmark will close its embassies in Mali and Burkina Faso.
According to the Report, this was reported by Reuters, citing the Danish Foreign Ministry.
The agency said that the closure is due to the unstable political situation in these countries, as well as the desire to change the policy of cooperation with the African continent.
At the same time, the Danish ministry said it would open embassies in Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia and increase the number of diplomatic staff at embassies in Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana.
Following a series of coups in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, relations between these countries and the West have deteriorated, while Russia’s influence there has increased, Reuters reports.
‘One of the most important foreign policy questions of this century is whether African countries will turn more towards the East or the West,’ the Danish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
