According to estimates, commissioning of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will serve to multiply the scale of regional trade and investment, significantly reduce transport costs and unlock the huge transit potential of Central Asia.

As Trend reports with reference to the office of the President of Uzbekistan, this is stated in the message of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the ceremony dedicated to the launch of the construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

‘This major infrastructure project envisages broad co-operation on the basis of advanced engineering, innovative and digital solutions, while respecting high environmental standards. Twenty (20) stations, forty-two (42) bridges and twenty-five (25) tunnels will be built along the Kashgar-Torugart-Makmal-Jalal-Abad-Andijan route. In addition, modern transit and logistics infrastructure, warehouses and terminals will be created,’ the message says.

It is also reported that annual volumes of cargo traffic along the corridor will be up to 15 million tonnes. The distance and terms of cargo delivery from China to European countries will be reduced by several thousand kilometres and almost a week, and it will be possible to organise regular passenger traffic.
