China is ready to cooperate with the United Kingdom to stabilize and develop bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in London on Thursday.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Wang conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Starmer and said that the Xi-Starmer meeting at the end of last year started the process of developing China-UK relations. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the recently held China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue has yielded positive results, and interactions at all levels have resumed, Wang said. According to Wang, this demonstrates the potential for cooperation between the two countries and shows that the UK Labour government’s rational and pragmatic policy towards China is in the interests of both the country and the people.

Prime Minister Starmer asked Wang to convey his sincere greetings to Chinese President Xi, noting that the current cooperation between the UK and China has made positive progress in various fields. Starmer said he hoped that open and constructive dialogues between the two countries would continue and the UK-China relations would develop steadily.
