Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu on Friday.
Xi stressed that China and Russia are friendly neighbors and true friends, recalling that he has met twice this year with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the talks, they made comprehensive plans for the development of China-Russia relations and exchanged in-depth views on major international and regional issues, he said. The two countries should maintain close communication at all levels, Xi said, calling for the full implementation of the consensus reached between the two leaders, maintaining good neighborliness and friendship, strengthening comprehensive strategic coordination and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation. Sergey Shoigu conveyed President Putin’s warm greetings to Xi during the meeting. Emphasizing that Putin attaches great importance to his sincere friendship and close contacts with Xi Jinping, Shoigu said that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented high level and are not aimed at any third party.
