Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing on Monday dismissed rumors spread by some people in South Korea that “China interfered in South Korean elections.” In a statement on the X platform, Dai said that China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs and opposes linking South Korea’s internal affairs with China for no reason.
“In response to the allegations of ‘China’s interference in South Korea’s elections’ raised by a very small number of people in South Korea, yesterday my colleague made a statement to Yonhap News Agency and other South Korean media outlets. “China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and we are completely transparent about it,” he said. “As a friendly and close neighbor, we hope South Korea can maintain its stability, development and prosperity. This is a valuable political support for us. We believe that the South Korean people have the wisdom and ability to resolve their internal affairs appropriately. But at the same time, we are against linking their internal affairs with China for no reason, and we believe that South Korea will make the right decisions with a clear understanding of this complexity,” Dai said.
Dai noted that China and South Korea have close contacts in various fields, including people-to-people relations, and a large number of citizens work, study, live and travel in both countries. In this context, he emphasized that South Korea is expected to protect the security and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens in the country.
