Azerbaijan and Portugal held regular political consultations. During the talks, the development of bilateral relations and regional and international issues were discussed.
The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the delegation of the Republic of Portugal was headed by Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Helena Malcata. During the meeting, the prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Portugal were discussed and the importance of mutual official visits and cooperation within the framework of international organizations was noted. The sides exchanged views on the prospects of expanding economic ties and cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and high technology. Relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan were also discussed. Portugal emphasized the importance of strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and pledged to continue bilateral dialogue. These consultations are held regularly with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in mutual interests.
