Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Aleksandr Zuyev, Deputy Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) for Rule of Law and Security Institutions.
During the meeting, various aspects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, regional and international situation were discussed, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. Noting that Azerbaijan’s mutually beneficial cooperation with the organization since its accession to the UN, its active participation in UN activities and its contribution to the organization’s peacekeeping operations were appreciated, the perspectives of cooperation in this area were discussed. It was noted with satisfaction that good cooperation with the UN was demonstrated in the organization of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted and chaired by Azerbaijan. The importance of implementation of important decisions taken during the conference, such as the “Baku Financial Goal”, was also emphasized. During the meeting, the importance of cooperation and support in the field of humanitarian demining with the UN in the context of efforts to combat the risk of mines, which pose a threat to the lives and health of citizens, the process of dignified return of refugees to their lands, peacebuilding and reconstruction of the country was noted.
