The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested 1 billion euros in the economy of Tajikistan, Trend reports citing the bank.
‘We have invested 1 billion euros in Tajikistan’s economy. During more than 30 years of work in Tajikistan, the EBRD has implemented 182 projects in various sectors of the economy across the country. Of these, 62 per cent of our investments have been directed to the development of sustainable infrastructure and 38 per cent to the development of Tajikistan’s private and financial sectors,’ the bank said in a statement.
It is noted that in Tajikistan the EBRD has introduced such programmes as ‘Green Cities’, which helps to solve environmental problems and stimulates investment in municipal infrastructure, ‘Trade Facilitation Programme’, ‘Risk Sharing Mechanism’, ‘Consultancy for Small Business’ programme, as well as ‘Women in Business’ and ‘Youth in Business’ programmes, Star Venture and other initiatives aimed at strengthening support for the private sector, development of women and youth entrepreneurship in Tajikistan.
