Dr. Kadir Ertaç Çelik, International Relations Advisor at the Ankara Center for Crisis and Political Studies (ANKASAM), evaluated the Erdoğan-Mitsotakis meeting in Türkiye Today from the dimensions of structural challenges, diplomatic strategies, expectations for the resolution of long-standing disputes in the Aegean and the impact of international alliances on bilateral relations. Stating that Greece has recently assumed a more active role in power dynamics and that this strategy has affected its relations with Turkey, Dr. Kadir Ertaç Çelik said, “Athens is taking advantage of regional and global fluctuations and cooperating with important allies such as the US and NATO. In this context, it is noteworthy that Greece is increasing its military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean and supporting its sovereignty claims through various projects. However, open channels of communication and mutual dialogue are crucial in resolving such structural issues.”
