The German government has allocated additional billions of euros to meet Ukraine’s defense needs. This decision was taken in order to increase support for Ukraine against Russia’s ongoing aggression.
The funds will be used for arms supplies, military training and humanitarian aid, the German Defense Ministry said in a statement. The ministry emphasized that they will continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that this additional support to Ukraine is vital for the security and stability of Europe. The international community must present a united front against Russian aggression, Scholz added. The new financial support package extends Germany’s military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, Germany continues to spearhead joint support efforts for Ukraine within NATO and the EU.
