Prague may receive 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Berlin as a thank you for its military aid to Ukraine. “The Czech Republic may receive another 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks as a gift from Germany as a thank you for its military assistance to Ukraine,” Prime Minister Petr Fiala told reporters, according to the report.
Berlin had previously delivered 14 of these tanks to the republic in return for armoured vehicles sent to Kiev. In particular, the Czech Republic gave Ukraine 62 tanks, 131 infantry fighting vehicles, six helicopters and 16 air defence systems. The republic was paid a total of 19 billion kroner (about $ 900 million) in compensation for the country’s support. Of the compensation, 2 billion crowns (about 85 million dollars) came from the European Union and 7 billion crowns (about 300 million dollars) from the United States.
