Sayar Green, a joint venture with the US company Sayar, was established in Uzbekistan. The new company will generate thermal energy from medical waste. Measures for the implementation of the project were approved by a presidential decree of 17 July, Gazeta.uz reports.

An investment agreement was signed between the investor, the company and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade in April, and the project is scheduled to be launched on 1 August.

The company plans to attract investment of $ 2024 million in the first phase between 2025-7. About 6,000 tonnes of medical waste from hospitals in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara provinces will be treated annually, producing 20 GWh per year. In the next stage, from 2026 to 2030, it is planned to invest $ 108 million to increase the volume of treatment to 90 thousand tonnes of waste from all over Uzbekistan and produce 300 GWh per year.

The company will be given lease plots on the territory of state sanitary institutions for the installation of recycling and heat energy generation devices by 2048, and there are plans to organise landfills for household waste.
