US President Joe Biden informed Congress that he plans to grant Kenya the status of an important ally outside the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to the Report, this decision was announced in a statement by the White House press office.
The American leader described his decision as ‘recognition of Kenya’s assistance over the years to the US Armed Forces Africa Command area of responsibility.’
‘I am announcing my intention to include Kenya as a key non-NATO ally. I made this decision in recognition of Kenya’s assistance over the years in the US Africa Command area of responsibility and around the world, and in recognition that it is in our own national interest to deepen bilateral defence and security cooperation with the Government of Kenya,’ Biden said.
