US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative of the President Steve Witkoff will pay an official visit to France next week. The visit, which will take place on April 18-19, aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries, a State Department spokesperson said in a statement.

Rubio and his delegation are scheduled to hold high-level meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. Foreign Ministry officials emphasized that this visit is of great importance especially in terms of determining a common position on the Russia-Ukraine crisis and strengthening international solidarity. Moreover, the aim is to deepen transatlantic relations during France’s EU presidency. The visit program also includes a speech to think-tank organizations in Paris and a roundtable meeting with representatives of the French business community. New areas of cooperation are expected to be discussed to improve trade and investment relations between the two countries.
