Zelensky: the West should give Kiev 12-15 air defense systems for not being invited to NATO

According to Zelensky, Ukraine was promised a “significant number” of air defense systems at the NATO summit in July as “compensation” for its inability to invite the country to the alliance. Moscow opposes arms deliveries to Kiev.

NATO countries should provide Kiev with promised air defense systems as compensation for its refusal to invite Ukraine to the alliance. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“We need the full implementation of the agreements on the supply of air defense systems, in particular those reached at the NATO summit in Washington. We remember that as compensation for the inability to invite Ukraine to the Alliance at that stage, we were promised a significant number of air defense systems. Our partners know that we need another 12-15 systems,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that supplying Ukraine with such a large number of air defense systems was a realistic goal, which required only the “political will” of the West. According to the Ukrainian president, he had already made a corresponding appeal to allies when addressing the summit of the countries participating in the Joint Expeditionary Force.
