‘The construction of a new geopolitics’
Professor Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, President of the Ankara Centre for Crisis and Political Studies: ‘Disappointed after the US withdrew its support from EastMed, Greece and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus are trying to build public opinion to prevent Türkiye’s successful policy in Syria from gaining a more regional cooperation dimension, which would be supported by the US as well as other countries in the region, through historical claims of fear of Turkish expansionism. In this process, which can be considered as a bad scenario for Greece, but an important good scenario for the region, of course, a maritime jurisdiction agreement process in which all states will be more profitable is inevitable, and with the inclusion of Syria in this process, the construction of a new geo-political construction centred on the Eastern Mediterranean-Middle East will gain more momentum.’
