Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will create a joint venture to implement the ‘green corridor’ project.
This was stated by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Energy Minister Umid Mamadaminov in an exclusive interview with Trend.
‘Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are expected to sign an intergovernmental agreement at COP29, which will be an important milestone for this initiative. This agreement will kick-start the project, leading to its rapid implementation. The three countries have already signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this year. We are engaging the consulting company CESI (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano) to conduct the feasibility study. The feasibility study procedure will take about a year, after which construction will begin. Several international financial institutions have also expressed interest in financing this green project. The construction is expected to take about 3-4 years. In addition, by 2030, the infrastructure and generating capacity (wind and solar generation) in the north-western region of Uzbekistan will be fully ready,’ he said.
