The EU countries offer Britain to resume participation in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of Brussels.
As Report reports with reference to the Financial Times (FT), the relevant proposals were voiced during a meeting of foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
According to the publication, London is not expected to immediately announce that it will join one of the EU missions, but sooner or later it will happen.
It should be noted that the EU is already carrying out 24 such missions involving 3,500 military personnel and 1,300 civilians.
The new British Labour government, which came to power following the results of the July elections to the country’s parliament, aims to reset relations with the EU after Brexit and establish closer cooperation with Brussels, the publication claims.
‘We cannot change the past, but we can determine the shape of the future,’ British Foreign Minister David Lammy said in Luxembourg, as quoted by the FT.
