President Kassym Jomart Tokayev offered to consider the creation of the CIS+ format
At the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council, the President of Kazakhstan stressed that the CIS is widely recognised internationally as an effective regional organisation and makes a significant contribution to global cooperation and development processes..
‘The CIS has a developed system of communication and useful links with various UN structures, as well as with many other international and regional organisations. The authority of the CIS in the world arena is gradually growing. Last year the observer and associate statuses of the CIS were established, which demonstrates the openness and maturity of our organisation.
As a continuation of this institutional work, I propose to consider the creation of the CIS+ format, which will serve as a basis for expanding the regional ties of the CIS.’
According to the Head of State, the meeting of CIS leaders is designed to give a new impetus to the work of the CIS in the conditions of geopolitical instability and rapidly changing international situation.
