Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented the election programme of the ruling Georgian Dream party. He called the resolution of the conflict with Russia one of the most significant priorities.
‘Pragmatic policy and peaceful settlement of the conflict with Russia is one of the main priorities,’ the Georgian prime minister said.
Commenting on the relations between Georgia and Russia, Irakli Kobakhidze reminded that only four countries besides Russia recognised the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. According to him, the successful ‘policy of non-recognition’ was a merit of the Georgian Dream.
Mr Kobakhidze also named resetting relations with the European Union and the US, as well as strengthening ties with NATO and partnership with China as priority tasks for the country. He said that by 2030 Georgia will fulfil all the conditions for EU accession.
