The heads of the CIS special services will discuss measures to intensify cooperation in detecting the entry of members of international terrorist organisations and radicals into the Commonwealth at a meeting in Astana.
This was reported by the Public Relations Centre (PRC) of the Russian Federal Security Service.
‘The 55th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Bodies and Special Services of the CIS Member States (SORB) is scheduled to be held in Astana on 4 October. During the plenary session the main attention of the council members will be paid to the improvement of co-operation between the special services of the CIS countries in the sphere of combating terrorism and religious extremism,’ the PRC reported.
‘It is planned to work out measures to intensify cooperation in organising the search for members of international terrorist organisations and other radical elements on the channels of entry-exit to the CIS member states, as well as to sum up the results of the work of the basic organisation of the CIS member states on researching the problems of countering terrorism and other manifestations of extremism in the current year and to determine the directions of further work for the next year,’ the FSB said.
