According to the results of the third quarter, Russia has once again overtaken the United States with the volume of gas supplied to the European Union.

At the end of the third quarter of 2024, Russia supplied 13.3 billion cubic metres of gas to the European market, compared with 13 billion in the previous quarter and 11.5 billion in the same period a year earlier, the publication said. The share of Russian companies in European imports increased from 17.2% to 19.4% in the April-June period.

The United States reduced the volume of liquefied natural gas supplies by a quarter in the last quarter and by a third for the year as a whole, to 9.5 billion cubic metres.

In September, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that by the end of 2024, liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Russia to abroad are projected at 35 million tonnes. On an annual basis, this increase would be 6 per cent.

Novak also pointed out that Russia diverts 30-40 per cent of gas supplies from Europe to other markets, especially China. Pumping volumes through the Power of Siberia pipeline are expected to reach a maximum in 2025.
