Turkmenistan and the Philippines discussed the creation of a new format of interaction between Central Asian countries and ASEAN.
The initiative was presented by the Turkmen side at a meeting between Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Philippines Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo on the margins of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, where bilateral and multilateral cooperation was discussed, Trend reported on Monday, citing the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The sides expressed mutual interest in intensifying political dialogue and holding regular political consultations.
They also discussed the possibility of strengthening partnership in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers reaffirmed the importance of maintaining and expanding cooperation between Central Asia and ASEAN countries in the trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
