Turkmenistan’s delegation at the World Congress of Utilities in Abu Dhabi presented promising plans for the development of renewable energy sources, Trend reported on Friday with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Nurmammet Nurmammedov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, gave detailed information on current initiatives in the field of renewable energy and the future of the country at the session entitled ‘Tripling the capacity of renewable energy sources: from plans to action’.
The event also included a meeting with Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), where joint projects and technical assistance in the field of renewable energy were discussed.
Turkmenistan presented its goals for the period 2025-2030 and reaffirmed its commitment to co-operation with IRENA. In turn, the Director General of IRENA expressed readiness to support the development of Turkmenistan’s renewable energy targets within the framework of NDC 3.0. The Turkmen delegation also participated in a session on the future role of renewable energy and financing methods involving the private sector, emphasising the importance of sustainable development and international cooperation in this field.
