Pakistan is interested in importing energy resources from Kazakhstan.

In an exclusive interview with Trend, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin said.

‘In fact, we regularly receive requests from our Pakistani friends for the supply of Kazakh coal, Kazakh oil, petroleum products and Kazakh gas. The main issue on our agenda is logistics. We are closely following the development of the so-called TAPI (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India) project. We are also closely following the development of projects such as CASA-1000 (designed to connect the energy systems of Central Asia and South Asia). This is a series of projects that are regional in nature,’ he said.

According to the Ambassador, in this case it should be clearly understood that the regional factor can be decisive or even predetermining in the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

‘Why? Because in order to ship goods between our countries, we need to pass through at least two countries in the region. These countries could be Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, even China or Tajikistan. At the current stage, our task is to create adequate transport and logistics infrastructure that will allow us to deliver products, including energy resources, painlessly, on time and with high quality.’

Speaking about the co-operation in the field of transport, the Ambassador noted that at present very active and intensive work is being carried out with the leading transport and logistics companies of Pakistan.
