Tajikistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in uranium mining

The memorandum was signed during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan.

Tajik Rare Metals and Kazatomprom signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of uranium mining and processing, as well as rare and rare earth metals. The signing of the document took place during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of Kazatomprom.

The memorandum envisages the development of strategic co-operation in the mining sector of both countries. The companies will implement joint projects for the exploration, extraction and processing of uranium and other rare earth metals.

The parties also agreed to carry out scientific research and introduce modern technologies into production. Cooperation will also include personnel training and exchange of experience.

Meirzhan Yusupov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NAC Kazatomprom JSC, noted that it is too early to talk about specific results, but the parties aim to implement promising joint projects in the field of rare and rare earth metals, as well as in the uranium industry. These projects could bring significant benefits to both Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
