Presidents of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan signed 16 cooperation agreements

The most important of these was the Treaty on allied relations between the republics, signed by the presidents.

On 22 August, President of Tajikistan Emamali Rahmon and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met in Dushanbe and signed important documents on cooperation. In total, the parties signed 16 new agreements, the most important of which was the Agreement on Allied Relations between the republics. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tajikistan.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding between the Central Commission on Elections and Referendums of Tajikistan and the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, an agreement on cooperation in the field of oil and gas between the Ministries of Energy of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were signed. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the ministries of agriculture of the two countries in the field of innovation and digital development, training and retraining of personnel.

In their joint press statements, the Presidents emphasised that the Treaty on Allied Relations is of historical significance and marks the ‘transition to a qualitatively new stage’ in cooperation.

Kazakhstan already occupies a leading position among Tajikistan’s trading partners, and the volume of trade between the countries continues to grow. In particular, in the first 6 months of this year, trade volume increased by almost 20 per cent compared to the same period last year.
