Turkmenistan has expressed interest in further development of trade and economic relations with Kazakhstan.
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made this statement during a meeting with the new ambassador of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Nogaev, Trend reported on Thursday, citing the Turkmen government.
‘During the discussion of trade and economic relations, the head of state confirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in the further development of cooperation in this direction. Identifying energy and transport as promising sectors, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the diplomat agreed that the large reserves of natural resources and favourable geographical features of the two countries create opportunities for the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in these areas.’
Special emphasis was also placed on the positive nature of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of authoritative international and regional structures such as the UN, OSCE, OECD and in the CIS.
In this regard, the success of the coordination of efforts on the platform of regional mechanisms was noted, in particular, the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State and new cooperation in the ‘Central Asia Plus’ format.
At the end of the meeting, Nogaev assured Serdar Berdimuhamedov that he would contribute to the further development of traditional friendly relations and the comprehensive expansion of fruitful cooperation.
