Uzbek Ambassador Nodirjon Turgunov held a meeting with Anas Aisam, Director General of the Project Planning Department of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Trend reports.
According to the information received, the issues of intensification of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IDB, preferential financing of large projects being developed in the country, support for women and youth, attraction of technical and humanitarian assistance were discussed.
Anas Aisam noted that the countries of the world are following with great interest the unprecedented changes that have taken place in Uzbekistan in recent years. He emphasised that the fundamental reforms initiated by the President of Uzbekistan have yielded effective results and strengthened the country’s position in the international arena.
Taking into account the successful implementation of the 2018-2022 cooperation strategy between Uzbekistan and IDB, a new strategy for 2022-2026 was developed.
The sides discussed opportunities for financing projects in transport, logistics, education, agriculture, water management, ecology, animal husbandry and other areas.
Programmes aimed at supporting women and youth in Uzbekistan were welcomed and the possibilities for expanding the IDB’s participation in these initiatives were considered.
It was also agreed to organise a practical visit of IDB representatives to Uzbekistan to continuously monitor the implementation of existing projects and discuss future plans.
