A regional forum on cargo transport and logistics organised under the auspices of the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has started its work in Astana.
The Silk Road in the Sky – Kazakhstan Cargo Hub forum is designed to make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Concept for the development of transport and logistics potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030, Trend reported on Thursday, citing the Ministry of Transport.
During the forum, negotiations will be held between individual organisations, after which a number of airports (Astana, Karaganda, Aktobe airports) are expected to sign documents with MNG Airlines, MSC Air Cargo SA, Coyne Airways Limited and Alpha Sky (Kazakhstan) (TBC), cooperation agreements were signed between TIACA and local airports (Aktau, Aktobe, Astana, Karaganda, Uralsk airports) and SCAT Airlines, between the International Air Cargo Association TIACA and the JARUS organisation.
The forum was attended by more than 300 participants from 30 countries, representing various organisations involved in the entire freight transport chain. These included shippers, freight forwarders, ground handling providers, airports, airlines, manufacturers and information technology providers. During the forum, industry experts will have the opportunity to discuss topical issues in various areas, such as the regulatory and legal framework of the industry, an overview of the current state of the cargo sector, multimodal logistics, the creation of air cargo hubs, trends, innovations and digitalisation in air cargo, opportunities and challenges of e-commerce, sustainable development of cargo transportation and environmentally friendly aviation fuel (SAF).
It should be noted that the interaction of Kazakhstani companies with various organisations and the application of advanced technologies will help Kazakhstan increase its trade turnover with Central Asian countries by 2.4 times, from $6.3 to $15 billion, including increasing Kazakhstan’s exports by $560 million.
