US officials believe that the adoption of the law on foreign agents in Georgia will hinder the country’s integration into Europe.
According to APA, this view was expressed at a press conference by Matthew Miller, head of the US State Department Press Service.
‘The United States condemns this step,’ Miller said.
According to Miller, the adoption of the document has taken Georgia away from the path of European integration. Miller emphasised that the ruling Georgian Dream party ignores ‘the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Georgian people’.
The head of the Foreign Ministry’s press service pointed out that all these actions jeopardise relations between the United States and Georgia. He recalled that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will impose visa restrictions on those who ‘undermine democratic procedures and institutions in Georgia’.
