Uzbekistan and Iraq discussed trade and economic partnership

During the visit of diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Iraq to Uzbekistan, meetings were held between Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Umid Safarov and Charge d’Affaires of Iraq in Astana Jaber al-Tamimi, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Trend reports.

According to the information provided, in 2022, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Iraq amounted to 12.1 million US dollars, in 2023 this figure increased to 22.1 million US dollars, which indicates the growth of trade and economic relations.

It was reported that at the meeting, it was proposed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries for the further development of cooperation. It was agreed to organise joint events, business forums and B2B meetings with the participation of business circles of Uzbekistan and Iraq.

In particular, the issues of logistics, trade and economic partnership were discussed, and a proposal was presented to start the purchase of textile, food and agricultural products, taking into account the high demand for Uzbek goods in the Iraqi market.
