Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigerians Abroad Bakary Yau Sangare held a meeting with the US Ambassador to Niger, Kathleen FitzGibbon. The two sides discussed details of the withdrawal of US troops from the country.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the chief of mission of the US Agency for International Development Maria Barron, the Nigerian Foreign Minister discussed bilateral cooperation and the possibility of signing a new agreement to replace the current one, which will expire in September.
On Sunday, thousands of Nigerian citizens demonstrated in the city of Agadez, demanding the immediate withdrawal of the US contingent after the Nigerian authorities terminated the military cooperation agreement with Washington.
