EU allocates €91 million to Tajikistan and prepares a new funding programme

Tajikistan received €91 million from the European Union during the implementation of the first phase of the EU Multiannual Indicative Programme for 2021-2024 for priority projects in the country.

This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan after a meeting of the subcommittee on the development of cooperation between the country and the EU, the Report reports.

During the meeting, EU representatives said that “a new draft of the EU Multiannual Indicative Programme for 2024-2027 is being developed and the amount of funding will be determined in 2024.” The meeting, chaired by Ashurboy Solekzoda, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development of Tajikistan and Raimundas Karoblis, EU Ambassador to Tajikistan, expressed “readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation”.

The Ministry of Economic Development added that the volume of mutual trade between Tajikistan and the EU will reach $401.5 million by the end of 2023.

Earlier, the ministry reported that the volume of trade with the EU in 2022 was $490 million, while in 2023 it decreased by 22 per cent.
