Romanian President Klaus Iohannis today, 12 March, formally announced his intention to run for NATO Secretary General.
According to the President, it has been two decades since Romania became a member of NATO, which for 75 years has supported democracy and freedom and created a wide network of partners. The President added that the fundamental values of the Alliance are the rule of law and that respect for fundamental rights and freedoms is the compass that guides everyone to consolidate democracy.
“The NATO umbrella has offered us the strongest security guarantees in history.” said President Iohannis.
