Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul met with his Swiss counterpart, Ignazio Cassis, and discussed the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and the Ukrainian war, his office said Wednesday.

In Tuesday’s talks in Seoul, they agreed to cooperate closely for the peace and security of the international community as two countries currently serving on the United Nations Security Council as nonpermanent members.

Cho also highly evaluated Switzerland’s leadership as the chair of the U.N. Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea and voiced hope for stronger cooperation on the North’s nuclear and human rights issues.

The two ministers then agreed to stand in solidarity with the international community’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine and achieve peace.

They also agreed to step up cooperation in the areas of trade, bio and advanced technology, according to the ministry.
