Kazakhstan will lead the CSTO after Belarus in 2024. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the priorities of the work. Tokayev’s remarks were reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Tokayev outlined the main tasks of the organisation, including cooperation with member states and countries interested in ensuring security, maintaining the level of interaction with the UN and its structures, deepening cooperation with the CIS and SCO.
The President of Kazakhstan also noted the need to finalise the legal framework for military cooperation, including the operational deployment of the CSTO Collective Forces, the development of military training and the realisation of the peacekeeping potential of the organisation.
All of Tokayev’s proposals take into account the new geopolitical challenges of the time.
