5 solar and 1 wind power plants started operating in Uzbekistan

On 27 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony to mark the commissioning of five solar and one wind power plants in different regions of Uzbekistan. During the event, the President noted that the country is implementing a large-scale reform programme and successfully developing the sustainability of the energy system. At the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a number of foreign guests, including Wu Yun, Vice President of China Energy Engineering Corporation, Muhammad Jamil Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, and Lin Xiaodan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Gezhouba Group.

Construction of the power plants was completed in a record time of just nine months. The projects cost $2 billion and will provide two million households with uninterrupted access to electricity. They will also save 2 billion cubic metres of natural gas and produce industrial products and services worth $4 billion.
