The Ukrainian government unilaterally cancelled the free trade agreement with Belarus.
The ban on trade with Russia has been extended until the end of January 2024, Report reported, citing the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy.
The government approved a draft law on the cancellation of the free trade agreement between the Ukrainian government and the government of Belarus, as well as a number of other documents related to this issue. Deputy Minister Taras Kachka said that there had been no trade between Ukraine and Belarus and Russia for almost two years. According to Kachka, with their decisions, the authorities are “harmonising the contractual and legal framework with reality”.
The Ukrainian government adopted a decree banning the import of goods from Russia in the spring of 2022. As Economy Minister Yuliya Sviridenko had previously stated, in this way the de facto termination of trade relations with Russia was legally secured.
