Tajikistan and Botswana established diplomatic relations. The agreement was signed by Tajikistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Jonibek Hikmat and Botswana Foreign Minister Lemogang. This is an important step for the development of bilateral relations, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The signing ceremony of the joint statement took place on 6 December in New York. It was noted at the event that the establishment of diplomatic relations will contribute to the further development of cooperation between Tajikistan and Botswana.
Botswana is hosting the 18th session of the UNESCO Inter-State Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage. Representatives of Tajikistan are also attending the session. During the session, several nominations from the republic were included in the list of intangible cultural heritage, including the traditions of weaving atlas and adras.
