Kyrgyzstan sold about 10 tonnes of precious metals in 9 months of 2023

Kyrgyzstan significantly increased the volume of gold exports in 2023. In the first nine months of 2023, the Kyrgyz Republic sold almost ten tonnes of gold abroad, which is many times higher than the results of the previous year. In 2022, during the same period, the country exported less than seventy kilograms of precious metals. This was reported by Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

Data from the National Statistics Committee show that total gold exports amounted to nine tonnes 926.7 kilograms worth $619.7 million. In the same period last year, Kyrgyzstan sold only 69.4 kilograms of gold abroad, and 290.5 kilograms for the whole year.

The agency noted that the main countries buying Kyrgyz gold this year are Switzerland (eight tonnes 33.5 kilograms), Hong Kong (984.3 kilograms) and the UAE (908.9 kilograms).
